굴뚝을 둘러싼 주택 / House around a Chimney
아름다운 건물을 개조할 때 존중과 예의가 동반되어야 한다고도 하고, 기존 건물을 배제한 채 단호히 개조해야 한다고도 한다.
이 프로젝트는 두 태도를 모두 취했다.
‘굴뚝을 둘러싼 주택’은 오포르루 지구의 타메가 강줄기에 접한 포르투갈 북부의 도시 아마란테에 자리한다.
이 도시에서는 멋지게 복원된 중세 다리 옆에 서 있는 큰 교회와 수도원이 특징을 이룬다.
건물의 도로 쪽 파사드는 일정한 모양으로 정렬되고 보호되었는데, 수직으로 쌓인 그 모습은 함께 잘 어울리는 데코레이션 케이크처럼 보인다.
2층 높이의 뒤쪽 파사드는 대개 그렇듯이 손질되지 않은 상태였다.
설계팀은 재생 창틀, 오래된 화강암, 새로운 대리석 요소, 장밋빛 측면 등 앞뒤 모두 비슷한 방법으로 손질했다.
정면이 여러 층의 케이크라면, 후면은 기이한 형태의 스콘이라 할 수 있다.
이 프로젝트의 전략은 모든 층을 관통하는 공간 구성의 중심으로 새로운 콘크리트 굴뚝을 사용하는 것이었다.
이 굴뚝이 1층 안방에서는 벽난로 역할을 하며, 모든 층의 공간을 원심분리의 방법으로 구성한다.
주택은 지상 4층으로 구성되고, 파사드 2층에서는 발코니가, 3층에서는 테라스가 눈길을 끈다.
모든 방은 같은 자재 팔레트로 마감되었다.
운동경기 트랙처럼 과감한 패턴은 여정의 시작과 끝을 나타낸다.
In renovating beautiful buildings, it is said that they should be accompanied with respect and politeness,
and that they should be assertive or bear a punk attitude. This project took both of two attitudes.
“House around a Chimney” is located in Amarante, a Portuguese town located in the north of the country and bordering
the course of the Tâmega River, in the Oporto district. The town is dominated by a large
church and monastery standing next to a striking restored medieval bridge.
The building’s street facade is listed and protected.
Its appearance of vertical piling looks like handsome pièce montée that functions well together.
The back facade, only two-levels high, is uncared for, as usual.
The project treats them both with similar means such as rejuvenated window frames, old granite,
new marble elements, and rosy cheeks. If the front one is a layer cake, the back one is an oddly shaped scone.
This project’s strategy is to use of a new concrete chimney as the center of the spatial organization that also crosses different levels.
It serves a fireplace of the main room on the ground floor, and organizes all spaces in a centrifugal manner.
This house is made up of four floors above ground, and a balcony stands out on the second level of the main facade,
and a terrace on the third. All rooms are finished with the same material palette.
Bold patterns like in sport tracks mark the beginnings and ends of the journey.
