발렌시아 최초의 빠오(包, 중국식 빵) 레스토랑인 빠오반(baovan)은 도시의 해변 문화와 여행의 모험심을 반영한다.
클라이언트는 수년간 아시아, 미국, 아프리카를 돌아다니며 생활한 모험 정신을 바탕으로 빠오반을 만들었다.
디자인팀 Clap Studio는 빠오반 창업자의 모토인 서핑과 탐험의 라이프 스타일에서 영감을 받아 다채로운 다이닝 인테리어를 구현했다.
설계팀은 빠오반의 슬로건 ‘맥주, 해변, 빠오’를 통해 브랜드의 정신과 개성에 부합되는 경험을 창출하고자 했다.
그들의 목표는 일몰을 보며 수제 빠오를 즐길 수 있는 해변으로 고객을 데려가는 것이었기에, 그 주변에 전체적인 경험을 연출했다.
식사 공간은 숲, 해변 그리고 노을의 세 구역으로 나뉘었다.
방문객은 가장 먼저, 울창한 초목을 상징하며 천장에서 흘러내리는 밧줄이 가득한 ‘숲’을 발견하고, 그 숲을 지나면 ‘해변’, 그리고 ‘일몰’을 발견하게 된다.
모래색으로 마감되어 해변을 표현한 영역은 벽면에 흰 타일을 붙여 해변으로 몰려드는 파도를 은유한다.
‘노을’ 영역에는 일몰의 색을 재현한 커다란 반원형의 스크린이 자리 잡고 있다.
Vitamin Studio가 설치한 이 스크린은 저녁 식사 시간의 분위기에 맞추어 설계된 것이다.
구름과 같은 설치물이 메인 다이닝 공간의 천장을 차지하는데, 빠오에서 영감받은 둥근 모양이 특징이다.
실내공간은 고객에게 물속과 물 바깥 풍경의 지속적인 색의 이중성을 보여준다.
천장에서는 석양의 빛을 반사하며 끊임없이 움직이는 구름이 패브릭으로 묘사되어 몽환적인 분위기를 자아낸다.
이 프로젝트에서는 빠오 모양에서 영감을 받은 원형과 초승달 형태가 공간 전체에 걸쳐 반복된다.
실내외를 연결하는 창문부터 조명 설치물, 레스토랑을 위해 특별히 설계된 빠오의 형태를 표현하는 의자까지.
그와 더불어 재미있는 색상 팔레트와 에너지 넘치는 디자인은 방문객이 멀리 여행하지 않고도 일상 속의 해변에서 휴양을 즐길 수 있도록 돕는다.
The first bao restaurant in Valencia, baovan reflects the beach culture and adventurous spirit of travel.
The clients had been living and traveling for years around Asia, America and Africa, and with the adventurous spirit,
they created Baovan. Inspired by the surfing and exploring lifestyle, the motto of baovan’s founders,
the design team Clap Studio designed colorful interior space for dining.
The design team’s challenge was to create an experience in accordance with the spirit and personality of baovan, through baovan’s slogan
“Beers, beach and baos”. Their goal was to transport the customers to a beach where they could watch
the sunset and enjoy some handmade baos, so they created the whole experience around it.
The design team divided the space into three distinct areas. First of all, the visitors discover “the forest”,
a porch full of ropes that fall from the ceiling representing a dense vegetation. Once the visitors cross “the forest”,
they discover the beach and its sunset. The area finished with sand color expresses “the beach”.
Its walls attached with white tiles, is the metaphor of wave surging to the beach.
In the area of “the sunset”, a screen in the shape of a half-moon recreates the colors of the sunset.
This screen programmed by Vitamin Studio matches its duration to a dinner service.
An installation depicting clouds occupies the ceiling of the main dining space,
and features a round shape inspired by bao. The interior shows a constant duality of colors that takes visitors in and out of the water.
On the ceiling, the clouds reflecting the lights of the sunset while moving constantly are expressed with fabric, evoking a dreamlike atmosphere.
