풀리아주 오리아 전원에 자리한 보르고 갈라나(Borgo Gallana) 민박은 올리브 나무들 사이에 있는 흰 돌로 지어진 전통 가옥 세 채로 구성되었다.
Studio Andrew Trotter는 부지에 이미 있었던 두 채의 구조물 사이에 안마당을, 안마당 양쪽에 두 개의 계단을 설계했다.
세 채의 단독 주택을 조성하기 위해 기존 건물을 확장했으며, 부지 건너편에는 40㎡ 규모의 수영장을 설치했다.
보르고 갈라나의 3개 동은 2인에서 4인을 수용하는 작은 민박으로, 단순함과 진정성이 특징이다.
공간의 높고 하얀 아치형 천장, 빈티지 가구, 테라코타 화분이 절제된 세련미를 자아낸다.
세 동은 각각 라운지 구역이 있는 아늑한 안뜰과 큰 야외 욕조를 가지고 있다.
동과 동을 연결하는 녹색 정원에 오래된 올리브 나무가 있다.
나무 그늘 밑에서 무더운 여름을 나기도 하고, 여유로운 독서를 즐길 수 있다.
건축적으로 건물 전체에는 아치형 천장과 시멘트 바닥이 사용되었다.
지역에서 나는 투포(tufo)라는 사암은 구조물의 시공에 사용되는 주요 자재이다.
현지에서 제작된 맞춤형 욕실 세면대와 주방 상판은 Studio Andrew Trotter가 설계한 아이템이다.
실내공간은 빈티지 테이블, 의자, 도자기, 램프 등으로 장식되었고,
브랜드 Frama, Lumina, Bongio, Tine K, Gervasoni와 현지의 식기 브랜드 Nicola Fasano를 사용하였다.
야외 영역에는 Studio Andrew Trotter가 디자인하고 블랙 파우더 도장으로 마감한 금속 벽 램프가 설치되었다.
미니멀한 내부공간과 아름다운 야외 공간이 조화를 이루는 이곳,
보르고 갈라나는 이탈리아 남부 시골 한가운데에 고요한 휴식처를 만든다.
Borgo Gallana consists of three traditional houses built with white stone among olive trees in the countryside of Oria,
Puglia. With already two existing structures in the land, Studio Andrew Trotter designed a courtyard between them,
and two staircases on both sides. Also, the existing properties were extended in order to obtain three
self-contained houses. On the other side of the land, a 40㎡ pool was created.
The three buildings in Borgo Gallana are small bed & breakfasts that accommodate two to four people,
and are characterized by simplicity and authenticity. The white high arched ceiling,
vintage furniture, and terracotta pots create an understated refined beauty in the space.
Each of the three buildings has a cozy courtyard with a lounge area and a large outdoor bathtub.
There is an old olive tree in the green garden that connects one building with another building.
Guests can enjoy a hot summer and leisurely reading under its shade.
Architecturally, vaulted ceilings and cement floors were used throughout the whole property.
Local sandstone named “tufo” is the main material used for the construction of the structures.
The bespoke and locally made bathroom sinks and kitchen tops were designed by Studio Andrew Trotter.
