황산 샹위엔윈구 리조트 스파 호텔 Sunriver Resort Spa

설계팀 Atelier tao+c는 상하이의 오래된 광물공장 부지 내에 위치한 435㎡의 낡은 창고를 미니멀하면서도 독특한 공간으로 탈바꿈시켰다

이 1층짜리 건물은 1958년 이후 여러 용도로 사용되어왔는데

그 과정에서 본래 산업적 특징들이 상당 부분 없어졌다

삼각 지붕 트러스와 지붕 위 천창만이 옛 공장이었던 건물의 특징을 넌지시 알려주고 있다

중국 신진 가구브랜드인 JOLOR는 최근 다른 산업의 새로운 브랜드들과 마찬가지로 전자상거래 시장에 먼저 진출했다

이후 오프라인 매장을 열어 고객들이 제품을 직접 경험해볼 수 있는 공간을 마련하고자 했고

쇼룸을 단순 가구 매장이 아닌 전시공간 겸 이벤트 플랫폼 등 다기능적인 공간으로 조성하고자 했다

특징 없는 직사각형 구조로 이루어진 실내공간에 레이어를 더할 방법을 고민하던 디자이너는

실내 전체 길이를 가로지르는 두 벽체를 세워 공간을 1:2:1 규모의 세 구획으로 나누었다

그 결과 중앙의 전시장과 측면 통로 두 개가 가구의 배경이 될 공간으로 구획되었다

연속되는 25m의 두 벽체는 소규모 전시와 행사가 이루어지기에 좋은 환경을 만들어준다

새로 세워진 두 벽 사이의 메자닌은 가구를 진열할 수 있도록 설계되었다

하나는 나선형으로 다른 하나는 직선으로 디자인된 서로 다른 형태의 두 계단을 통해 진입할 수 있다

벽체의 개구부에서부터 돌출된 바닥 슬래브는 복도 양쪽에 자리한 실내 발코니를 형성한다

몇몇 원형과 반원형 형태가 바닥과 벽면에 조성되어 있어 출입구를 암시하고

쇼룸을 둘러보는 경로를 따라 빛을 드리운다

새롭게 삽입된 모든 벽체와 바닥은 블랙 테라초로 마감했다

디자이너는 지붕 위에 나 있는 천창으로 햇빛을 끌어들이는 원추형 구조물을 추가해

실내로 들어오는 햇빛의 효과를 극대화하고자 했다

빛이 천창을 통해 들어와 구조물 안쪽 평면에 부딪히고

공간의 중앙에 반사되는 모습은 계단을 오르는 손님들에게 빛과 그림자가 드리우는 따뜻한 풍경을 마주하게 해준다

세심하게 배치된 제품과 가구들은 어두운 배경 속에서 조명을 받아 붕 떠 있는 듯한 분위기를 자아내

방문객들을 위한 몰입감 있는 여정을 연출한다

Atelier tao+c has transformed an old 435㎡ warehouse located within the site of an old minery factory in Shanghai into a minimal, yet unique continuum with open spatial design

The one-storey building had been used in many functions since 1958

During which much of the original industrial characters were stripped away

Only the triangular roof trusses and the dormer window over the roof still have the hints of what factory building look like within that period

As an emerging furniture brand in China

JOLOR started their business with its e-commerce market

Like the other new brands in different industries nowadays

And then stepped into the next chapter by opening a retail space to showcase their products for people to experience

This showroom’s concept was to design a place which is not just a furniture store

But also a place that can function as a multi-purpose exhibition space and a platform for pop-up events

In thinking about how to add layers to the original interior with featureless rectangular structure

The designer erected two walls that run across the full length of the interior

And divided the space into three bays in 1:2:1 scale

In the end, the central exhibition hall and two side aisles was formed as the setting for furnitures

These two 25m continuous walls can also provide sufficient background for small exhibitions and events

The mezzanine floor between the two newly-built walls was designed to display the furnitures

And can be reached by two stairs in different shapes

One in spiral and one straight
