리우 주택 RIO CASA RIO
리우 주택은 포르투갈의 시골스러운 도시, 곤도마르에 위치한 오래된 농가를 개조한 작업이다.
고즈넉한 동네 외곽에 지어진 작은 농가는 낡은 외관으로 인해 주변 풍경을 해치고 있었다.
설계팀은 외관의 볼품 없는 자재들을 해체하면서 이 주택의 구조가 거주자의 필요에 따라 지어진 작은 집 세 채로 이루어져 있다는 것을 알게 되었다.
이러한 건물 본래 구조는 프로젝트를 설계하는 핵심 전제가 되었다.
그들은 기존 매스의 구조를 보존하면서 그것을 기반으로 원래 형태를 드러내 디자인하기로 결정했다.
1층에 위치한 공동 영역으로는 중앙 파티오의 뚫린 하늘을 통해 빛이 가득 들어온다.
주택의 출입구와 별개로 나 있는 흰색의 격자무늬 문을 통해 외부에서 곧바로 중앙 정원으로 진입할 수 있다.
중앙 슬래브에 마련된 정원의 지붕은 주택의 모든 방과 사적 영역에도 새로운 정원이 되어주며, 2층의 방들은 정원을 통해 서로 연결되기도 한다.
중앙 정원 옆에 자리한 계단 외에도 거실 한쪽에 마련된 나선형 계단이 1층과 2층을 이어주고 있다.
설계팀은 화강암으로 마감한 1층과 흰색 페인트로 마감한 2층, 두 층 사이에 물성의 표현에 있어 강렬한 대비의 연출을 의도했다.
더욱 거친 물성으로 마감된 1층에서는 건축 구조가 무색할 만큼 외벽을 마감한 화강암을 실내공간에도 사용하여
마치 출토된 화강암 덩어리 속에서 생활하는 듯한 느낌을 전달하는 동시에 외부 공간과 매우 강한 관련성을 가진 것처럼 보이도록 했다.
위층에서는 기존 주택 세 채가 기하학적 형태로 개조되어, 빛이 차고 넘치는 순백색 매스로 물성을 드러내고 있다.
이 층에서는 나무 덧문, 흰색 목재 바닥이 전형적인 포르투갈의 전원주택 분위기를 재현하고 있다.
CASA RIO results from the remodeling of an old farmhouse located in a yet very rural city Gondomar.
The small farmhouse built on the outskirts of the quiet village was damaging the neighboring landscape due to its old appearance.
By disassembling the poor materials of the old facade, the design team discovered that the house was actually made up
of three small houses built according to the needs of the residents. This structure of the existing building
was the key premise for creating this project. Based on the structure, the design team decided to reveal its original shape.
The public area on the first floor is filled with the light coming through a slab perforated by a central patio.
The residents can enter the central garden directly from the outside through a white lattice door separated from the entrance of the house.
The garden roof of the central slab provides a new garden for all rooms and private areas of the house, and the rooms on the
second floor are connected to each other through the garden.
In addition to the stairs next to the central garden, a spiral staircase on one side of the living room connects the first and second floors.
