올레이루스 주택 Casa dos Oleiros
‘올레이루스 주택’은 포르투갈의 도시 ‘카스텔루브랑쿠’에 위치하고 있다.
오랜 역사를 지닌 거리 사이에 위치한 주택은 지나온 시간을 머금은 채 새로운 모습으로 거듭났다.
이 프로젝트는 최근 점점 쇠퇴해가고 있는 지역적 상황에 대응해, 역사적 중심지인 도시의 재활성화와 젊은
연령층이 점유하는 도시라는 추세를 확립하려는 시도로 원형(原型)의 기틀을 잡는 데 목적을 두고 진행되었다.
지역에 한층 역동적인 분위기를 다시 부여하고자 하는 취지에 따라 주택 외관은 그대로 유지하는 반면,
내부는 현대적 미니멀리즘으로 특징지어지는 안락과 활기에 맞추어 새롭게 개조했다.
주택은 두 개 층과 메자닌으로 구성되었고, 1층은 휴식영역으로, 2층은 사교영역으로 구획되어 있다.
설계팀은 기존 건물의 계단을 통해 진입할 수 있는 위층 지붕 공간의 폭을 복원해 바닥부터 천장까지 상당히 풍부한 높이를 확보하고,
하얀 천장과 벽면을 통해 빛이 반사될 수 있도록 의도했다.
이로써 한때 밀폐되었던 공간 전체에는 빛이 넘쳐흐르게 되었다.
메자닌에 추가한 천창은 작업공간에서 인근에 있는 성(城)의 전경을 바라볼 수 있게 해주고, 이 현대적인 공간이 역사로 가득 차 있음을 상기시켜준다.
설계팀은 심플하면서도 수준 높은 품질의 자재를 사용했다.
벽면과 천장은 밝은 색조로 칠했으며, 바닥과 가구는 스코틀랜드 소나무로 마감해 이 주택을 방문하는 이들이 밝고 따스한 분위기를 느낄 수 있도록 디자인했다.
Casa dos Oleiros is located in Castelo Branco, Portugal. This house was born as a new space among the streets with long history.
In response to declining local situation, this project aimed at taking on the contours of an archetype,
in an attempt to establish a trend in the urbanized city; urban revitalization of the historic centre and its occupancy by younger age groups,
making this part of the city more dynamic once more.
In line with this intention, the project consisted of maintaining the original appearance of the house on the outside,
while inside, the spaces were readapted to current standards of comfort and living, marked by contemporary minimalism.
The house has 2 floors and a mezzanine. The ground floor is for rest area, and the upper floors are for the social areas.
On these upper floors, which are accessed via the original building staircase, the design team restored the spatial amplitude of the roof,
giving them quite a generous floor-to-ceiling height and letting the light reflect on the white ceilings and walls and
flood into the entire space that had once been enclosed. A skylight was added to the mezzanine,
providing a view of the castle from the workstation and reminding that this contemporary space is filled with history.
The design team used simple, yet high quality materials, painted the walls and ceilings in light shades, and finished floor
and furniture with Scots pine, which created an atmosphere that visitors of this house could feel the brightness and warmness.
