범아시아 레스토랑 틴틴(TIN TIN)이 미니멀리즘과 토착적 물성이라는 디자인 정체성으로
인도 펀자브주 찬디가르의 활기찬 중심부에 모습을 드러냈다.
공간은 당당하면서도 무모하게, 순전히 실험적 디자인의 영역에 뛰어들었다.
설계팀은 인습에 사로잡히지 않은 자유로움과 함께, 새로운 열정으로 시각과 촉각을 활용한 몰입적인 환경 조성으로 틴틴을 구체화했다.
이는 ‘젠(禪)’ 감각의 창조에 초점을 두었지만, 인도의 물성을 교묘하게 차용한 글로컬 감성의 외관에서 개념화됐다.
여행 경험이 많은 공동 창업자 두 사람이 품고 있던 세련된 디자인 비전을, 이번 프로젝트에서 충분히 펼쳤다.
틴틴의 공간적 패턴은 신비감과 호기심에 이끌린 경험을 통해 고객을 불러들인다.
구불구불하게 이어진 공간의 평면은, 넓은 장소에 뒤얽힌 경로를 만들어낸다.
경직된 선 형태가 없는 공간은 사용자를 매력적으로 수용할 수 있는 친밀한 틈새 공간을 저절로 생성한다.
공간 전체를 차지하고 있는 단일한 디자인 특징은 요행히도 각 영역을 더 넓어 보이게 한다.
공간은 연속적으로 이어지는 아치, 윤곽이 그려진 천장, 솔리드와 보이드 구조물들의 병치로 구성된다.
이들은 실내 공간의 어떤 장면도 같을 수 없다는 것을 나타내기 위해 중심이 되는 접속점과 변화하는 전경을 만들어낸다.
틴틴에서는 장인정신이 가장 중요한 자리를 차지한다.
설계팀은 시각적 역동성을 불어넣기 위해 기하학적 모자이크 매트릭스를 벽, 입구 등 다양한 표면 마감재를 결정하는 요소로 이용했다.
작은 석굴 같은 분위기는 석공과 주물공들이 6개월 동안 공들여 손으로 만든 인도 석재와 테라초 조각들을 현장에서 직접 주조하여 연출했다.
설계팀은 또한 옥색, 암갈색, 줄무늬가 있는 흰색, 미가공 직물 등의 진한 색상으로 공간 전체에 색조의 영역을 조성했다.
레스토랑을 위해 맞춤 제작된 가구들도 공간을 유기적으로 장식하는 곡선 실루엣을 따라 이 지배적인 색채계획에 일조하고 있다.
틴틴 레스토랑은 감각적 환경과 대화를 나누며 식사할 수 있는 아늑한 실내 공간과 라운지 공간을 제공한다.
높은 독립형 테이블과 구불구불한 커뮤니티 테이블이 배치된 식사 구역은 다양한 경험을 선사한다.
이를 통해 레스토랑은 낮에 근사한 식사 공간이었다가 해 질 녘에는 활기 넘치는 라운지로 변모한다.
TIN TIN, a Pan-Asian dining venue is opened with the design identity of minimalism and indigenous materiality in the heart of vibrant Chandigarh,
Punjab, India. The space unapologetically dives head-first into the realm of sheer experimental design.
With unconventionality, the design team realized TIN TIN by the creation of an immersive milieu that
engages the senses of vision and tactility with a renewed verve.
The ethos was focused on creating a sense of ‘Zen’, yet conceptualising it in the appearance of glocal sensibilities
that borrow ingeniously from Indian materiality.
Design vision harbored by the well-travelled co-founders of the restaurant was satiated in this project.
TIN TIN’s spatial tapestry lures its patrons through an experience almost guided purely by the senses of mystery and curiosity.
The space meanders and forms a convoluted trajectory within the expanse of the venue.
The absence of rigid linear forms inherently creates intimate interstitial nooks that can host the end-user in an engaging embrace.
Homogeneous design features in the whole space ensure that each zone seems to belong serendipitously in the larger canvas of the venue.
Medley of sweeping arches, contoured ceilings, and juxtaposition of solid and void structures dot the layout;
these conjure focal nodes and morphing vistas, only revealing that no sights within the interior can be identical.
