마라케슈이브 생로랑박물관
이브생로랑로(路)에 위치한 마라케슈이브 생로랑박물관(musée YVES SAINT LAURENT marrakech, mYSLm)이 2017년 10월 19일 개관되었다.
위대한 패션 거장의 작품에 헌정된 이 박물관에는 피에르베르제-이브생로랑재단(Fondation Pierre Bergé–Yves Saint Laurent)이 소장하고 있는 컬렉션 일부가 보관된다.
파리 마르소 5번가에 자리한 이 재단의 컬렉션에는 의상 5천 점, 오트쿠튀르 액세서리 1만5천 점, 그리고 드로잉 작품 수만 점이 포함되어 있다.
1980년 이브 생 로랑과 피에르 베르제의 소유가 된 마조렐공원의 석재로 마감된 이 건물은 크리스토프 마르탱(Christophe Martin)이 디자인하고
이브 생 로랑의 의상작품들을 전시한 상설 전시장 400㎡을 포함하여 총면적이 4,000㎡에 달한다.
기획전시장, 6,000권이 넘는 서적을 보유한 연구도서관, 150석의 강당, 서점, 테라스카페 등으로 구성된 mYSLm은 박물관 그 이상을 추구한다.
이 박물관의 설계는 올리비에 마르티(Olivier Marty)와 카를 푸르니에(Karl Fournier)가 설립한 건축사무소 Studio KO가 맡았다.
“mYSLm은 우리에게 매우 친숙하고 소중한 두 세계, 패션과 모로코를 결합해 준다.
우리는 건축사무소를 창업한 후 줄곧 이브 생 로랑에게 많은 영감을 준 모로코에서 활동해 오고 있다.
이런 야심찬 프로젝트를 진행하면서 20세기의 가장 영향력 있는 패션디자이너의 역사와 명성에 우리 방식으로 기여할 수 있다는 게 매우 기뻤다.
” 이 두 젊은 건축가는 모로코, 유럽, 미국 등지에서 수많은 프로젝트를 진행해 왔다.
그들은 이브 생 로랑의 아카이브를 훑어보면서 이브 생 로랑의 작품을 특징짓는 섬세하고 대담한 형태의 연속, 그리고 직선과 함께 사용된 곡선에 반하게 되었다.
직물의 씨실과 날실을 연상시키는 패턴으로 완성된 건물 파사드는 레이스 같은 벽돌 마감과 큐브가 교차된 것처럼 보인다.
고급 재킷에 댄 안감처럼 부드럽고 매끄럽고 빛나는 실내공간은 완전히 다른 모습을 선사한다.
The musée YVES SAINT LAURENT marrakech (mYSLm), located on Rue Yves Saint Laurent, opened its doors to the public on 19 October 2017.
Dedicated to the work of the great couturier, it conserves a part of the collection belonging to the Fondation Pierre Bergé–Yves Saint Laurent.
Housed at 5 Avenue Marceau in Paris, the collection includes 5,000 articles of clothing and 15,000 haute couture accessories, as well as tens of thousands of drawings.
A stone’s throw from the Jardin Majorelle, acquired by Yves Saint Laurent and Pierre Bergé in 1980, the new building covers 4,000㎡
featuring a 400㎡ permanent exhibition space, designed by Christophe Martin, showcasing the fashion work of Yves Saint Laurent.
More than just a museum, the mYSLm includes a temporary exhibition space, a research library with over 6,000 volumes, a 150-seat auditorium, and a bookstore and terrace café.
The museum was designed by Studio KO, an architectural firm established by Olivier Marty and Karl Fournier.
“The musée YVES SAINT LAURENT marrakech combines two worlds that we are very familiar with and that are dear to our hearts: fashion and Morocco.
Since the founding of our architectural firm, we have worked in this country that so inspired Yves Saint Laurent.
It is with great joy that we have worked on this ambitious project, and contributed in our way to the history and prestige of the most
influential fashion designer of the 20th century.” These two young architects have realized numerous projects in Morocco
Europe and the United States. While leafing through the couturier’s archives, they were struck by curves running alongside
straight lines; by the succession of delicate and bold forms that characterized the work of Yves Saint Laurent. The facade of the
building appears as an intersection of cubes with a lace-like covering of bricks, creating patterns that recall the weft and warp of fabric.
As with the lining of a couture jacket, the interior is radically different: velvety, smooth and radiant.
